Future US President Donald Trump announced on social media that former head of the immigration agency Tom Homan will be responsible for border security in the new administration. As Trump wrote, he will become the “tsar of the border.” Homan is to deal with the “deportation of illegal aliens to their countries of origin.”
Tom Homan served as head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for 1.5 years last term Donald Trump. Now Trump has announced on the Truth Social platform he founded that Homan will join his administration and will be responsible for the borders of the United States.
The president-elect specified that Homan will be “responsible for our country's borders (the 'border czar'), including, but not limited to, the southern and northern borders, and for all matters of navigation and aviation security.” He noted that the former head of ICE will be responsible for “deporting illegal aliens to their countries of origin.”
He expressed confidence that 62-year-old Homan “will do a great, long-awaited job.”
“Seismic shock” in immigration policy
Observers had previously predicted that Homan would join the new administration as the person responsible for matters related to border security.
Last week, CNN reported that Trump's associates were discreetly preparing to deport migrants staying in the United States without permission. The website recalled that issues of illegal migration were the axis of Trump's campaign, and he praised Homan during the campaign.
In a recent interview with CBS, Homan assured that the plans include “targeted arrests.” – Based on the conducted investigations, we will know who we will detain and where we will most likely find them (these people – editor's note), he announced.
According to CNN, the internal security agency responsible for, among others, for deportations, a “seismic shock” in immigration policy is about to occur.
