Duda: Trump promised to remember Poland

Duda said that during the conversation, Donald Trump said that he “knows that the vast majority of Poles in the United States voted for him” and that he is grateful for it.

– He said that he remembers Poland, that he promises all of us here in the country and in the United States that he will always remember Poland, in the best sense of the word, so I convey these warm wishes in connection with our Independence Day and his thanks for the electoral support – said the president.

“We have a lot of topics to discuss”

Duda also said that he and Trump had agreed that their meeting would take place before Trump officially takes over as US president, which will take place in January. A specific meeting date has not been set yet.

– Poland takes over the presidency of the European Union. One of our priorities is to strengthen ties between the European Union and the United States, so we want to talk to the president-elect about this, among other things, he said.

– We have initially outlined the most important topics of the conversation, they are obvious: security issues, issues of economic cooperation between Poland and the United States – Duda said.

Topics during the meeting between Duda and Trump will also include the situation in… Ukraine. – The president-elect asked me about my assessment of this situation. We have a lot of these topics to discuss, added the Polish president.

On social media, Andrzej Duda published an entry in English in which he said he congratulated Trump on his “historic comeback and decisive victory in the presidential elections.” “We also agreed to organize our meeting in the US in the coming weeks,” Duda wrote.
