The 31-year-old had mycelium of the hallucinogenic Cuban lichen in his backpack and ready-made, already dried mushrooms of this species in his apartment. The man was charged. He faces up to three years in prison.

Police officers from the Piaseczno police station carry out activities aimed at combating drug crime. Thanks to the vigilance of the “intelligence officers”, a 31-year-old resident of the Piaseczno commune was placed in a cell. In the man's backpack, they found the mycelium of the hallucinogenic Cuban moth.

Dried mushrooms at home

– They didn't end there. During the search of the apartment, the police found more mushrooms, this time already dried and prepared for illegal sale. They have been secured. Police officers from the criminal investigation department began collecting evidence, which allowed the 31-year-old to be charged with criminal charges relating to both possession and cultivation of drugs. Thanks to this, the first and at the same time serious entry appeared on the man's criminal record – says Edyta Adamus from the Warsaw Police.

Possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms is punishable by up to three years in prison. Their cultivation is also prohibited.

The proceedings in this case are supervised by the District Prosecutor's Office in Piaseczno.

Drugs, including hallucinogenic mushrooms, pose a serious threat to health, causing irreversible physical and mental effects.
