During the construction of a new police station in Lublin, an unexploded bomb was found, most likely from World War II. Therefore, local residents – over 2.8 thousand people – will be evacuated on Friday.

An unexploded bomb was found on Waleczne Street on Wednesday. It will be extracted and taken away on Friday.

“Military sappers have designated an evacuation zone in the area of ​​200 meters from the place where the unexploded bomb was found. Based on data from the population register, it will cover over 2,800 inhabitants of Lublin,” the press office of the chancellery of the mayor of Lublin reported.

The evacuation will start at 7.00 and will last until 9.30. Applies to residents of some buildings on six streets located in the area of ​​ul. Valiant. These are the following streets: Thursday (numbers 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27), Lwowska (numbers 6, 8, 10, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26), Podzamcze (numbers 3). , 5, 7a) Walecznych (3,4) Unicka (5,7) and Gustaw Doliński 1.

The meeting point was designated at ul. Walenych, at the height of ul. Jacek Kuroń. From there, public transport buses will take residents to the final meeting point at the Arena Lublin stadium. Residents will be able to take their pets with them. Part of the parking lot at the stadium will be free for people who can move around independently.

Located near ul. Walenych Primary School No. 23 (ul. Podzamcze 9) and Kindergarten No. 50 (ul. Podzamcze 7a) will be closed. Care for preschoolers will be provided in other kindergartens, and after-school care will be organized for primary school students in other schools.

During the evacuation and removal of unexploded bombs by sappers, Walecznych Street will be closed, as well as the entrances to the nearby streets: Jacka Kuronia, Krzemieniecka, Podzamcze, Thursday, Unicka. The police will direct traffic there. Public transport will be diverted.

According to the commander of the Sapper Patrol, the unexploded ordnance removal operation should last approximately 1.5 hours.

The Mayor of Lublin, Krzysztof Żuk, appealed for calm and following the recommendations of the evacuation services. He added that police and City Guard officers will inform residents about the planned evacuation on Thursday. The city has also launched special 24-hour information numbers: 81 466 17 12, 81 466 17 13 and 81 466 17 14. Information will also be provided Municipal Police.

Unexploded explosion on a construction site

An unexploded bomb was found during excavations at the construction site of the new police station at ul. Walecznych. According to the police, according to preliminary findings, it may be a bullet from World War II. The sappers called to the scene checked the area and found no other unexploded ordnance.
