An unknown perpetrator painted a red and black rectangle on the front of the monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto in Muranów. The police are investigating the desecration of the monument. They secured monitoring. The act of vandalism was condemned by the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Israeli ambassador to Poland.
On Friday before 10 a.m., tvnwarszawa.pl reporter Artur WÄ™grzynowicz was on site. – On the front of the monument you can see a rectangle painted with red and black paints – he said.
The police were notified about the case.
– We received a report about the incident at this location around 6 a.m. We performed a number of activities, including with the participation of a crime scene technician. At the moment, no official notification has been submitted in this matter. Nevertheless, the police are conducting preliminary activities – junior aspirant Jakub Pacyniak from the Warsaw I District Headquarters told us. – They are being carried out in the direction of Article 261 of the Penal Code – added the policeman.
The article cited by the officer concerns the crime of insulting a monument or other public place arranged to commemorate a historical event or honor a person.

I call on the Polish authorities to condemn this act, find the culprits and bring them to justice. This is not the first act of anti-Semitic vandalism in this place. Only decisive action will put an end to it,” the ambassador wrote on the X platform.

What is this symbol?
The red and black flag was used by the OUN-UPA, but for Ukrainians it has a much broader meaning and generally symbolizes Ukraine's fight for independence. The black color refers to the Ukrainian land, and the red color refers to the blood of fighters shed on it in the fight for freedom and independence of Ukraine.
