The Polish Embassy in the USA announced that it welcomed the new head of mission, Bogdan Klich. The former senator, due to the opposition of President Andrzej Duda, will serve as chargé d'affaires in the facility.
“Our embassy employees today welcomed the new Chief of Mission, Bogdan Klich. Previously, Bogdan Klich served as a senator and Minister of National Defense. Mr. Klich is excited about his stay in DC and hopes to further strengthen Polish-American relations,” the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in USA.
Duda rejects Klich's candidacy
In September, the Sejm Foreign Affairs Committee gave a positive opinion on Klich's candidacy for the new ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Washington. The president opposes this candidacy Andrzej Dudawho had already announced that he would not sign this nomination.
At the beginning of November, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Paweł Wroński said that Klich had met all formal criteria and had been approved by the Sejm Foreign Affairs Committee as a candidate for the Polish ambassador to the USA. He added that Klich also received consent from the American side to take over the post, he went through all the procedures resulting from the act amended by PiS and he will represent Poland. They criticize cliché PiS MPswho demand that his candidacy be withdrawn by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They justify this with Klich's critical statements about the president-elect Donald Trump from two years ago. This is about Klich's entry from 2022 on the X platform, in which he called Trump an “unbalanced and disrespectful politician.”
