Gazprombank is the third largest bank Russiathrough which Moscow settles payments for the purchase of military equipment and pays soldiers and their families. Although partial sanctions have been imposed on it, it has not yet been subject to the full blockade and exclusion from the SWIFT system that was applied to other banks. This was related to concerns about the impact of sanctions on further deliveries of Russian gas to Europe. According to a statement from the US Ministry of Finance, over 50 Russian banks with international connections, over 40 securities registers used by Russia to circumvent restrictions, as well as 15 people from the management of Russian state banks have been added to the sanctions list. Additionally, an alert was issued warning companies about the risk of sanctions related to the use of the Russian SPFS settlement system, which is intended to be an alternative to the international SWIFT system.
