A boiler exploded at a cork factory in Ibi, province Alicante east Spain It happened around noon on Wednesday. There were 39 people in the factory at the time of the explosion.

“We regret the death of three people as a result of a boiler explosion at a factory in Ibi, which caused part of the factory to collapse, leaving people trapped and injured to varying degrees,” the Alicante fire brigade said online, adding that 11 units participated in the action.
Among the injured, several of them are in a serious condition – the 31-year-old son of the company's owners was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Valencia. In turn, a 47-year-old man who suffered multi-organ injuries was transported to a medical facility in Alcoy. The other injured people reported by the Spanish media include: women aged 21 and 25.
Witnesses to the event reported that the explosion was huge. They also heard people trapped under the tumors and roof structure calling for help.

The factory where the explosion occurred is located next to an electrical substation that supplies the region with energy. The mayor said that after the explosion, there was a temporary power outage.
The explosion was so strong that part of the roof fell onto the adjacent warehouse. There is no information that anyone was injured in it, but there are reports of material losses.
The effects of the boiler explosion can be seen in the photos and videos that appeared on the Internet. The factory was almost torn apart from the inside, part of the roof collapsed, as did the walls. Scattered in the area were, among others, elements of metal construction.
