The competition in PlusLiga is gaining momentum. Two more matches were played on Saturday. In the first one, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów hosted by ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. It was difficult to pick a favorite, although the guests had a better chance. And they actually won.

ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle wins after a fierce battle against Asseco Resovia Rzeszów

The start of the match was fantastic for the team from Kędzierzyn-Koźle. In fact, she absolutely crushed her opponents in the first set. She gave them only 11 points. In the next batches game It was definitely even and there was fierce competition. Effect?

Sets two and four ended with an advantage play. The team from Rzeszów triumphed in both. ZAKSA won game number three (25:20), which is why there was a tie-break. Fierce again. And once again his fate was decided by the advantage play. This time, however, the guests won 20:18 and the entire match 3:2. The MVP was quarterback Marcin Janusz.

Thanks to this victory, ZAKSA strengthened its fifth position. Currently, it has the same number of points as fourth place Bogdanka LUK Lublin (28). Additionally, ZAKSA secured participation in the quarter-finals of the Polish Cup. In turn, Asseco remained in eighth place in the table. After 14 matches he has 22 points on his account.

Leon was helpless. Jastrzębski is strengthening his position as leader

A few hours later on fans PlusLiga was waiting for an even bigger hit – Jastrzębski Węgiel, the leader of the table, played away against the mentioned team from Lublin. And although both teams were separated by a lot of points in the table, it seemed that the match would be very close. Jastrzębski has many stars in his squad, but his rivals seem to have one of the biggest, namely Wilfredo Leon.

And from the very beginning the game was very even. It was practically point by point. The team from Lublin showed slightly more initiative. She took a one- or two-point lead, but in the end the rivals were able to equalize. And not only that. In the very end they kept their nerves under control and won 32:30.

The second game had a very similar course. Once again, the fate of the competition was decided in the last minutes. And again, Jastrzębski Węgiel was stronger in them. This time, however, there was no advantage play – 25:23. The guests were one step away from winning. And they completed the job in the third installment. This time they dominated LUK. From 14:14 they scored nine points in a row. The team from Lublin did not manage to make up for this loss.

Ultimately, Jastrzębski won by 16 and the entire match 3-0, and Timothee Carle was the MVP of the match (he scored 17 points that evening). Thanks to this victory, the Silesian team strengthened its leading position. He won the full pot and after 14 rounds he has 37 points. Warta Zawiercie has only three fewer, and Projekt Warszawa is third (33). Fourth is LUK Lublin (28). After Sunday's matches, there were no changes in the top teams.
