The Ukrainian Navy announced an attack on oil platforms off the coast of Crimea. These installations were occupied by Russian troops in 2015, after the annexation of the peninsula.

As a result of the attack, the surveillance systems on the platforms were damaged, the Ukrainian Navy said in a social media post on Saturday. It also published a recording purporting to show an attack on oil platforms taken over by the Russians after the annexation of Crimea.

“The occupiers will not stay on our territory – we will get them everywhere,” the entry says.

The drilling platforms, built between 2010 and 2012 off the coast of Crimea in the Black Sea, were seized by Russia in 2015. Radio Svoboda recalled that Russian forces used the installations for military purposes after armed aggression against Ukraine in February 2022. The platforms served as helicopter landing pads, and the Russian military also placed radar stations there. Ukrainian forces attacked these facilities several times.
