I say clearly and clearly that I want to be an independent president. Independent of the orders of the chairmen of political parties, the two great forces that have been dividing Poland between them for 20 years, i.e. the Civic Platform and Law and Justice – said the leader of Poland 2050, Speaker of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia, in “Fakty po Faktach”. He argued that he was not running in the presidential elections to “save the party.” – I'm running in these elections to win – he said.

The leader of Poland 2050, Speaker of the Sejm and candidate in the presidential elections, Szymon Hołownia, was asked in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 about his motivation for running for the office of head of state.

– I'm running in these elections to win. I don't need presidential elections to show myself, remind me of my existence, or – as some malicious people comment today, but I have a lot of understanding for them – to save the party, he said. According to him, “nothing needs to be saved.” – The Third Way is building its position, it is not easy in this difficult coalition – he noted.

– However, I clearly say that I want to be an independent president. Independent of the orders of the chairmen of political parties, the two great forces that have been dividing Poland between themselves for 20 years, i.e. the Civic Platform and Law and Justice, he said. He added that he did not equate these formations.

“I have a different vision of the presidency than both of these candidates.”

Hołownia was asked to evaluate other candidates in next year's elections – Karol Nawrocki and Rafał Trzaskowski. – I have great respect for both of my main rivals, Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki, for having, and I say this without any irony, the courage and effort to run for office – admitted the TVN24 guest. – Some of us, Rafał and me, have already completed the presidential campaign. We know that this is very difficult for politicians, for their families, and that it is a huge burden. So respect, gentlemen, he added.

– However, I have a different vision of the presidency than both of these candidates. One of them will have to obey his chairman, the Prime Minister. Another will have to listen to its president, Jarosław Kaczyński – continued the chairman of Poland 2025.

According to him, “today Poland needs a coalition on October 15 in the Sejm, in the government, in the parliament.” – The president, however, is a completely different competition. And today, to stabilize security in Poland, he must be president on the side of the people. It must have a boss who is only people, only voters. He can't have anyone else over his head. In this sense, my vision of the presidency is different and this is the vision I will present, he added.

“I was always too right for the left, too left for the right”

Hołownia also talked about issues related to religion. He emphasized that “he was always too right for the left and too left for the right.” – This means that I am located in the center, where the vast majority of Poles live and this is my homeland. The center, that's where I want to be, he said.

– I support the separation of church and state. I have talked about it many times since the beginning of my political path, because I believe that it is something that will restore stability in Poland in this area. Well, the mess that we still have at the moment in these state-church relations causes chaos, and it causes anxiety, sometimes aggression – he said.
