The whole of Madeira is under a strong wind warning. The forecast shows that gusts may reach up to 100 kilometers per hour on Sunday.
According to the authorities of the Portuguese island, due to the storm, sea connections with Porto Santo, the second island in this Atlantic archipelago, have been temporarily canceled.
Canceled flights
The airport authorities in Funchal, the capital of Madeira, announced that a total of 33 flights were canceled on Saturday. Two planes had to land at the airport on the island of Porto Santo. According to forecasters, strong winds will persist over the Portuguese archipelago at least until Sunday evening. Traffic paralysis caused by the weather breakdown makes it difficult for thousands of tourists to come to Madeira, including Poles, who go to the archipelago in large numbers during the Christmas and New Year period.
An island besieged by tourists
