Adam Ma³ysz He has been retired for thirteen years now. For a long time now, he hasn't had to worry about Christmas preparations Four Hills Tournamentwhich traditionally begins each season shortly after Christmas. And what did the celebrations of the birth of Jesus Christ look like in the Małysz household over the years? As it turns out, for them the holidays are a mixture of two traditions.
A family tradition of combining beliefs
More specifically, the Catholic and Protestant traditions. In 2021, in an interview with Robert Mazurek from RMF FM, Małysz revealed that he himself is a follower of Lutheranism, while his wife Izabela is Catholic. For this reason, their wedding in 1997 was ecumenical, i.e. after simply combining the traditions of both faiths. Interestingly, such a difference in their marriage is not the only such case in the Małysz family. This applies to almost every generation. Our master's father-in-law was an evangelical, as was his son-in-law. Meanwhile, both Małysz's mother-in-law and daughter are Catholic.
Małysz revealed Christmas traditions
How does this Evangelical-Catholic “mix” affect the celebration of holidays in their home? – Unlike Catholics, we can eat meat on Christmas Eve. At that time, I ate meat in my family home. In our house, the most common dish was roasted duck, but it varies. However, I have also come to like carp. Either we buy a fillet or my mother-in-law has a golden hand for removing the bones from it – said Małysz, quoted by “Przegląd Sportowy”.
It also turns out that things are not easy with the Little Ones… Santa Claus. He cannot count on letters of wishes. – In my case, St. Santa must listen carefully to what is happening throughout the year, what I would like, what he needed. We don't choose and draw lots, like some people, but rather each one surprises the other – said the four-time World Cup winner.
