Cable sabotage? “An investigation into the disruption has been launched,” wrote Fingrid, quoted by TV4. In turn, the operator's representative stated that “sabotage cannot be ruled out“, but noted that the specific cause of the failure remains to be determined. – These types of problems are detected relatively often, we have experienced something similar about ten times this year – said Arto Pahkin.
The Prime Minister of Finland spoke: “The Estlink 2 electricity transmission connection between Finland and Estonia stopped working in the afternoon. Even on Christmas Day, the authorities are awake and investigating the matter. Transmission connection interruption has no impact on the electricity supply for Finns” – wrote Petteri Orpo. According to the Estonian newspaper “Postimees”, the security of electricity supplies is ensured also in Estonia.
