Let us remind you that, among others: Szymon Hołownia called the introduction of colorful alcotubes to stores “a crime against Polish children.” Although the manufacturer of controversially packaged spirits has already announced their withdrawal and suspension of production, the story of the scandal does not end there. On October 4, it appeared on the website of the Government Legislation Center design regulation on “specific packaging requirements for certain spirit drinks”.
Regulation on alcohol packaging. In the background there is the issue of alcotubes
The draft regulation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development specifies “detailed requirements regarding the commercial quality of the packaging method for spirit drinks in unit packages with a nominal package size of up to 200 milliliters”.
According to the ministry, the only appropriate packaging for such alcohols are cans and bottles. “Spirit drinks placed on the market in bottles or cans cannot raise doubts or be misleading as to the data enabling the identification of the food and distinguishing it from other foodstuffs, in particular foodstuffs intended for children” – discussed in the document of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The regulation is to enter into force the day after its official announcement.
Alkotubki resembled children's mousses
Let us recall that alkotubki, which appeared on the shelves of Polish stores just a few days ago, at first glance looked like popular fruit mousses for children. They were sold in the form of characteristic colorful sachets, and their production was carried out by Real SA – which produces Owolovo mousses.
As usual we informedin the face of growing controversy, the manufacturer decided to withdraw the alcotubes from sale. “We regret that the Voodoo Monkey product, even though it was produced and marked in accordance with applicable regulations, aroused negative and unintended associations. Therefore, the management board of OLV decided to immediately withdraw the entire batch of products from the market and immediately stop production. We apologize for this situation” – she informed Polish Press Agency OLV, owned by Real SA
