Will there be a medal in wrestling? The Pole has kept his chance

It is possible that wrestling will join the group of disciplines that will bring us a medal in Paris. It is all thanks to Arkadiusz Kułynycz. The 31-year-old will compete in the repechages of the Olympic tournament in the classic style in the 87 kilogram category on Thursday.

This will happen because his quarterfinal opponent – Iranian Alireaza Mogmadipiani defeated Ukrainian Zhan Beleniuk in the semifinal. Kulynych will fight Colombian Carlos Andres Munoz and if he defeats him, he will face off for the bronze medal.

Wednesday was bittersweet for the 31-year-old Pole. First, he defeated world champion Ali Cengiz from Turkey, but he had no chance against the aforementioned Iranian. He lost 1:8.

In Beijing, the bronze medalist in the freestyle up to 72 kg was Agnieszka Wieszczek. Four years later, Damian Janikowski stood on the lowest step of the Olympic podium. In Rio de Janeiro, the bronze medalist was Monika Michalik, and in Tokyo, the third competitor was Tadeusz Michalik.
