A possible victory for Le Pen in France, and later a possible victory for Trump in the United States, will give incredible power to other populists, Andrzej Olechowski, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, predicted on TVN24. He added that “their current pressure and a possible frontal attack on democracy, on the world order, is fatal.”

Andrzej Olechowski, former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Minister of Finance, in reference to Sunday's events elections in France and the upcoming presidential elections in USA spoke about the enormous importance of aid – among others by these countries – Ukraine.

– As Europeans, we realize that we are in the first row. That is why this progress of populists is so dangerous. Is that Marine Le Pen agreed with this (transferring aid to Ukraine – ed.), it does not mean that it will not find fault with it and will not try to limit it. We can already see what Orban is doing – said Olechowski.

– There is hope, however, because these populists are a quarrelsome bunch and it is difficult for them to come to an understanding among themselves – he noted.

As he said, he is afraid that “a possible victory for Le Pen in France, and later a possible victory for Trump in the United States, will give incredible power to other populists.”

– Their pressure today and a possible frontal attack on democracy and world order is disastrous. The world is in transformation, we see it. There are new phenomena that we have to deal with – climate changesenergy, artificial intelligence. But if populists are going to do this, then Christ… – he concluded.
