After the weather broke in Zakopane, roads and properties were flooded. As a result of the downpour, the flooded Zakopane village was closed. Before 1 p.m., Zakopane firefighters intervened in nearly 30 places at once.
Due to heavy rainfall, the Zakopianka, or national road no. 47, at the entrance to Zakopane has been flooded. It is closed in both directions. Several-kilometer traffic jams are forming – informed General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.
Flooding in Zakopane
National road No. 47 was flooded at the intersection with the road to Olcza. On site, firefighters are pumping water out of the floodwaters. The traffic jam on Zakopane stretches to Poronin.
There were also numerous floods in Poronin. As reported by the Zakopane fire department, at 12:50, firefighters were working simultaneously in 27 locations in connection with reports of flooding.
The Tatra police said in a statement that the road under the viaduct on Ustupa is flooded. Officers are directing cars to detours.
As a result of the heavy rain that appeared before noon, many properties and basements were flooded.
