This is the end of the era of Stypułkowski, one of the longest-serving bank managers in Poland. “Cezary Stypułkowski resigned from the position of president of mBank and from his position on the management board on July 4 this year,” the bank reported in a stock exchange announcement on Thursday. Cezary Kocik was conditionally appointed to replace him. Stypułkowski had been the head of mBank since 2010.

The report also stated that the resignation was submitted as a result of agreements with the bank's supervisory board, “constituting an integral part of the succession process for the position of president of the management board of mBank”.

Who is Cezary Stypułkowski

Cezary Stypułkowski has been the CEO of mBank since 2010. As stated in the biography on Stypułkowski’s website, in 2003 he was appointed CEO of the PZU Group, in 2006–2010 he worked at JP Morgan in London, and from 2007 he was the managing director of JP Morgan Investment Bank for Central and Eastern Europe. The departing CEO of mBank earned a Ph.D. in law from the University of Warsaw and studied at the Columbia University Business School in New York as a Fulbright scholar.

Cezary Kocik, in turn, has 30 years of experience in banking, including over 12 years as vice president of the management board for Retail Banking at mBank, and additionally supervises the private banking and wealth management client segment, the brokerage office and the investment fund management company – as written in his biography on the mBank website. Previously, he worked in the area of ​​internal audit, investment banking, restructuring and debt collection at Bank PBG (later Bank Pekao SA) and in the retail area as the director of the Łódź branch of Bank Pekao SA – added. Kocik is a graduate of the University of Łódź, majoring in Finance and Banking.
