Competition for a project to modernize the Main Campus of the University of Warsaw. Dates

The University of Warsaw announced a competition for the concept of developing the Main Campus area in Krakowskie Przedmieście. The communication system will change, among others, and the parking lot will disappear in front of the University of Technology.

The University of Warsaw informed about the competition. As mentioned, the “visual identification system of the campus space, communication system and plant robe” will change, among others.

“These are selected elements that should include the work of participants of the competition to develop the concept of developing the space of the University of Warsaw at Krakowskie Przedmieście. Studies can be submitted to May 23 ” – marked.

The parking lot will disappear

In an interview with Gazeta Stołeczna, the Chancellor of the University of Warsaw, Robert Gray, said that the main square in front of the old BUW building “will gain a more representative character.” The university also wants to remove a parking lot from this place. As a result, the area is to be more aesthetic and friendly for visitors of campus or tourists.

The organizer of the competition is the University of Warsaw in cooperation with the Warsaw Department of the Association of Polish Architects (SARP).

“The reported projects should contain a concept and rules regarding: visual identification system of the campus space; communication system; plant robe; waste management; small architecture facilities; lighting; facilities; economic facilities; renovation and modernization of fragments of fences” – listed.

According to the competition guidelines, “Project concept should be characterized by high -quality solutions taking into account the history and traditions of the historic university campus”.

The competition is conducted in unlimited, two -stage mode.

Studies in the competition can be submitted to May 23and competition entries to August 1. We will know the results August 18.

Students wanted the cars to disappear

We informed about cars parking on the main campus of the University of Warsaw on tvnwarszawa.pl two years ago.

Up to 200 cars parked in this region. That is why a group of spatial management students decided to convince the university authorities that cars should disappear from the most representative part of the campus, i.e. from the courtyard before the Old Library. They also claimed that benches and tables should be erected there.

Their main assumption was that from the main part of the courtyard, which is what we see right after entering through the main gate, all cars disappeared.
