Every day, every hour brings new shocking news about the destruction caused by the flood in southern Poland. – Out of five bridges, only one remains, at the City Hall. That there is no electricity, no range, no shops are open. And most importantly – that people lack hygiene products, water and bread – said Sebastian Szczęsny about the situation in Stronie Śląskie. The well-known commentator comes from this town, which is currently struggling with flooding.
Due to floods, the greatest tragedies are occurring, namely the death of people. In the Kłodzko Land alone, ten deaths have already been confirmed. And unfortunately, we can expect that this balance will worsen in the coming days.
Daniel Bąk is dead. He was 43 years old
One of the flood victims is Daniel Bąk, a former coach of several Polish clubs playing in lower leagues. “Shocked and with deep sadness, we inform you that Daniel Bąk, a long-time employee of the Commune Office and coach of GKS Czarni Jaworze, KS Międzyrzecze, Koszarawy Żywiec, Zapora Wapienica, and most recently Sokół Zabrzeg, has died,” the Jaworze Commune reported on social media.
“He was known and appreciated by many residents of Jaworze for his great passion for sports and dedication to the local community. His passion and commitment will remain forever in our memories. Daniel was 43 years old,” it added.
– The incident took place at night from Saturday to Sunday. The body was discovered on Sunday morning in the Kamieniczanka stream near Pileckiego Street in Bielsko-Biała. The examination conducted at the scene excluded the participation of third parties. The autopsy also confirmed that the man died as a result of an unfortunate accident – said Paweł Nikiel, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Bielsko-Biała, quoted by “Fact”. He added that the man's cause of death was drowning.
According to the newspaper, Daniel Bąk fell into the Kamieniczanka stream. “The stream, which is usually 30 cm deep, turned into a rushing river on the night of September 14/15. The water there reached up to 1.5 meters. The current was very fast,” we read.
Daniel Bąk's funeral will take place on Thursday, September 19, at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Startowa Street in Bielsko-Biała.
