Thomas Ivan and his beloved Karolina Woźniak have had a difficult time. Recently, while they were away, someone broke into their villa. The thieves not only ransacked the apartment, but also stole really valuable things. “Our house was broken into and our most valuable items were stolen, all our watches, jewelry, handbags, and a large amount of cash. At the urging of the police, we are publishing a post to draw attention to valuable items being sold second-hand, of unknown origin. If anything arouses your suspicions, please contact us. Our losses are huge and our sense of security has been devastated, and it is hard to come to terms with it.…” – wrote Woźniak on Instagram.showing photos showing further corners of the demolished house (photos can be found in our gallery, at the top of the article)). Now the detective has spoken out in the case, and has openly pointed out the mistake that Tomasz Iwan and his beloved made. It was he who could have made the thieves' task easier.
Tomasz Iwan and Karolina Woźniak found their apartment devastated. How could they have protected themselves from thieves?
The break-in at Iwan and Woźniak's villa took place on August 14. None of the residents were home. The former footballer's beloved was at a meeting with a friend, while Tomasz Iwan was in the stands of the PGE Narodowy. The athlete was watching the 2024 UEFA Super Cup. Iwan, happy about the event, boasted on social media that he was watching the match live from the stands. According to detective Bartosz Weremczuk, the thieves could have followed Ivan on Instagram and thanks to his stories, they knew that the former football player was not at home (it is not known whether Woźniak made the same mistake).
It should be noted that public figures, unfortunately, often make the same mistake, i.e. they publish information about the places where they are on social media. (…) This is why it is known that these people are not at home
– he said in an interview with “Fakt”.
The detective added that if we want to share on Instagram that we are spending time outside the house, it is worth securing the apartment in advance. The premises can be looked after by a trusted person. An alarm is also a good ideabecause as Weremczuk says “a burglary with theft often takes less time than grocery shopping.”
Tomasz Iwan could have been followed
In his conversation with “Fakt”, the detective considered yet another scenario. The thieves could have followed Tomasz Iwan and even planted a GPS tracker on him. That way they knew he was not at the villa on the evening of August 14. “Maybe when they saw Tomek in the city, they planted a GPS tracker in his car,” Weremczuk said.
