Donald Tusk, chairman of the Civic Platform, spoke at a rally in Jelenia Góra. Numerous trade unionists from the Turów mine also came to the meeting, whistles were heard, including during the singing of the national anthem. The leader of the PO stated that Bogatynia, where the mine is located, its inhabitants and employees of Turów are “perhaps the most severe victims” of the ruling party. – PiS has been effectively destroying your mine and your power plant since it won the first election – he turned to the trade unionists who had arrived.
Tusk met with voters on the market square in Jelenia Góra, at the beginning the national anthem was sung. Except for the followers of the leader AFTER a large group of employees Turów mineincluding representatives of trade unions operating there. Mine workers chanted, used trumpets and drums, and whistled. Tusk mentioned his involvement in the activities of “Solidarity” in the 1980s. – And to those of you who today hold the flags of “Solidarity” and with the flags of “Solidarity” in their hands are buzzing, shouting and whistling when Polish women and Poles sing the anthem, I want tell you that the real “Solidarity” has never seen anything like this – Tusk turned to the workers disrupting the meeting.
– When we founded Solidarity in 1980, (…) we knew then, and I know it today, that true Solidarity is never with the authorities, against people. True Solidarity is when it protests against the authorities, against theft and lies, said Tusk.
About governments PIS said that “an unfortunate but short incident in our history is just ending before our eyes”.
Tusk: PiS effectively destroys your mine and your power plant
During his speech, Tusk talked about the main problems of the region, including the situation of the Turów power plant and mine. He said that it was the rule of PiS and people associated with it that led to the current situation.
He stated that “Bogatynia (where the Turów mine is located), Bogatynia residents and Turów employees are ‘perhaps the most severe victims’ of PiS.”
– According to a long-term manager of the energy industry, the cost of theft, inefficiency, corruption, cunning, related only to the power plant and the mine in Turów, is between PLN 3 and 5 billion – said the PO leader.
At the same time, he added that “experts have no doubt that all the bad things that are happening today in the Turów mine are the result of inefficiency, bad management, corruption and cronyism.”
