Drugs on the Jawor ship. Brazilian police destroyed half a ton of cocaine

Federal police officers from the city of Sao Luis in northeastern Brazil destroyed half a ton of cocaine found last week on the “Jawor” ship belonging to Polska Żegluga Morska (PŻM).

In a statement, the Brazilian Federal Police announced that the drug cargo confiscated from the Bahamas-flagged vessel had been incinerated. Evidence of the destruction of cocaine includes, among others: photographic material published on the website of the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security. According to information provided by the head of the federal police in Sao Luis, the circumstances of finding cocaine on the Polish unit have been under investigation since the beginning of the week. The officer added that none of the Polish citizens from the “Jawor” ship had been detained, as some Brazilian media suggested.

On the ship during the voyage to Brazilaccording to PŻM information, apart from Poles there were citizens Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria. A total of 20 people. On Sunday, PŻM spokesman Krzysztof Gogol told PAP that the crew of the bulk carrier “Jawor” found several 40-kilogram packages with drugs that could have been planted while the ship was at anchor. He added that the sailors discovered the drugs on October 4, and soon the captain of the vessel informed the agent about finding the cargo, who informed the police.
