Electric buses are already running over Morskie Oko, which are to be an alternative to beans. Does this mean that tourists decide this novelty? Not yet. It is possible that their price scares off.
Long -awaited and great changes in transport over Morskie Oko. Electric and zero -emission buses set off on the route at the beginning of May. It was supposed to be an alternative to horse transport. Three courses a day. Fare? A bit cheaper than in the fiackers.
– Tickets for transport from Palenica to Płudyienica will cost PLN 80. Let us remember that this is not a regular journey – emphasizes Szymon Ziobrowski, director of the Tatra National Park. – Educational content is reproduced during each journey, which was prepared by the Education Department of the Tatra National Park – informs Magda Wyzniacz -Kozica from the Tatra National Park.
There is only one “but”. – These are still three buses out of 30 horse carts, it's still not much and it still won't give us a picture or alternative transport is what tourists expect – notes Anna Plaszczyk from the “Viva!” Foundation.

Allegations towards TPN
Electric bus running is still in the tests phase that are supposed to answer whether the service is successful. Impressions of the first passengers – in accordance with expectations.
– A sensational idea, taking into account horse incidents. I think that the solution is great, only promoted, increasing the frequency of hours and larger amounts of buses – says Paweł Silesia, a tourist from Łódź. – As if it wasn't there today, there was a small interest – but it is – admits Stanisław Migiel, a bus driver.
Expert from the “Viva!” Foundation He points out that the beans are available immediately and you have to wait for the bus. Three courses a day, for the number of tourists visiting Morskie Oko, are still not much. – I have the feeling that the Tatra National Park wants to do everything to prove that horses on the route must stay because tourists want this, and this does not want tourists – says Anna Plaszczyk.
The Tatra National Park refutes the allegations. – We run this service in the form of a pilot, which is why the number of these courses is not large. Let's remember that on May 12 the road will be renovated, so we will have to suspend these courses temporarily – says Szymon Ziobrowski.
TPN adds that the price for the journey has been agreed with all parties to the concluded agreement in the future may change. In addition, in the amount of the passage there is already an admission ticket to the park.
Activists expect to completely replace animals
In the future, the service is to be performed by Fiakrów, but this does not mean that the horses will disappear from the road to Morskie Oko. – This solution will be testing until next year, and from next year we have – absolutely unacceptable from our point of view – a situation in which horses will pull carts from Palenica to Wodogrzmotów Mickiewicz, and only from Wodogrzmoty will be able to change to the bus. This was not the point – Alert Anna Plaszczyk.
For ecoactivists, changes are insufficient. They expect completely replacing animals with electric buses. – The problem is that we will still have to look at these horses – notes an expert from the “Viva!” Foundation.
– We will strive for this in cooperation with all pages that have signed a letter of intent, to maximally use these vehicles as much as possible, so that they simply do not stand in parking lots – assures the director of TPN.
