On the last Sunday of March, once again there will be a change in winter to summer time. Seasonal reckoning of watches has been criticizing for years and work on its liquidation began before the Covid-19 pandemic. The Ministry of Development and Technology has just returned to this topic and announces “Breaking the deadlock”. When can we expect the liquidation of time changes?
On the night of March 29-30 we will move the watches by an hour back and We will go on summer time. Another change of time, this time from summer to winter, will take place on the last Sunday of October. The need to carry out seasonal time changes now results from the European Union regulating. However, voices have been intensifying for years to leave this system. In 2018, even EU work began on the liquidation of a change in time in spring and autumn, but they were suspended by a pandemia explosion coronavirus.
However, the Polish authorities have just returned to the idea, and the Ministry of Development and Technology informs “about activities that are to break the impasse” in this matter.

The ministry wants to go away from a change of time
In a statement sent TVN24.pl, representatives of the ministry inform about the works undertaken as part of the ongoing Polish Presidency in the EU Council, aimed at “giving a new impulse in negotiations regarding the departure from the seasonal change of time”. “The Minister of Development and Technology Krzysztof Paszyk talked about the resumption of negotiations on the directive (regarding the departure from the change of time – ed.) When can they actually lead to the liquidation of seasonal changes in time? It is not known yet. It is only known that this will not happen before 2026, as the regulation will apply, which specified the dates of four subsequent changes in time. We are talking about March 30 and October 26, 2025 and March 29 and October 25, 2026. In order for the last changes in the EU time, all Member States must agree to change the regulations in advance.
Currently, only residents do not change watches in Europe Russia, Belarus and Iceland. In Poland, the time was shifted in the interwar period for the first time. Later, it was left several times and returned to this idea. Since 1977, time has been changed in Poland continuously. Originally, she had a power saving in favor of this, but now this argument is no longer valid.
According to the CBOS study of March 2019, over three quarters of Poles (78.3 percent) were against changing time, while only 14.2 percent. She supported her maintenance. Most adults, in the case of choosing one time, would prefer the Central European summer time, sometimes called summer. This option was chosen by over 74 percent. respondents.
