tvn24.pl journalist Tomasz-Marcin Wrona has been nominated in the Korony Równości 2024 plebiscite. He will compete for the award in the Media category for the report “Queer in a small town”, which can be watched on TVN24 GO.
The list of nominees for the 2024 Equality Crowns has been announced. The plebiscite has been organized since 2019 by the Campaign Against Homophobia.
These awards are considered the most important distinction that can be received in Poland for activities for the community. LGBT+. “The aim of the plebiscite organised by KPH is to distinguish individuals and groups that in a given year were particularly engaged in the fight for equal rights for the LGBT+ community,” the organisers write.
This year's awards will be given in seven categories. In the Media category, a nomination for the reportage “Queer in a small town” was received by a journalist from the tvn24.pl portal Tomasz-Marcin Wrona.
Votes can be cast until September 6th. koronyrownosci.plThe awards ceremony will take place on September 12. The competition jury includes a journalist from TVN24 Piotr Jacoń, winner in the Media category from 2022.
“Queer in a Small Town”
For a few weeks Tomasz-Marcin Wrona contacted LGBTQ+ people living in small towns with a population of less than 30,000. Most of them did not want to talk openly about their own experiences in front of the camera. They were afraid of the reactions of their immediate surroundings, including their families. Finally, the journalist and his team visited Adam, Katarzyna and Maciek, giving them a voice that rarely breaks through in public debate.
