Two people were injured in a small explosion that occurred on Monday at the Azoty Puławy Group's Ammonia Plant, the fire brigade reported. The causes of the accident are being investigated.
Maciej Falandysz, the Lublin fire brigade officer on duty, said that a small explosion occurred on the ammonia production line. Two injured people were transported to hospitals.
– The company fire brigade has its own forces and dedicated resources. We are there, we help, said Falandysz. He said that firefighters are securing the scene of the incident and the landing site for the LPR helicopter. For details, he sent to “Azoty” from Puławy.
– At the gas preparation installation at the Azoty Puławy Ammonia Plant, while starting the heater, an accident occurred this evening, as a result of which two company employees suffered burns – said Grupa Azoty SA spokeswoman Monika Darnobyt.
The spokeswoman added that one of the employees in a more serious condition was transported by an LPR helicopter to a specialist hospital in Łęczna, the other – with lighter injuries, was treated on an outpatient basis and transported to the Municipal Hospital in Dęblin.
– The first inspection of the incident site shows that there was no damage to the installation's cameras. All necessary services have been notified. The causes of the incident are being investigated, Darnobyt reported.
