Poland is the third largest exporter of Christmas tree baubles in Europe and the fifth in the world – according to a report by Akcenta. In 2023, Christmas decorations worth over EUR 68 million went abroad from Poland – it was added.

According to the report's authors, Polish baubles are gaining recognition abroad “not only for their unique design, but also for their durability.” Data analyzed by Akcenta show that in 2023, Poland exported Christmas decorations worth EUR 68.2 million, reaching 5th place in the world and 3rd in Europe. The export of baubles in 2023 was half as high as their import. It was indicated that they are the largest global exporter of Christmas decorations China. In Europe, however, they are only ahead of us Netherlands and Germany.

Polish baubles are most often exported to Germany – the value of decorations exported from Poland in 2023 amounted to EUR 15.6 million. They are in second place United Stateswhich received goods worth EUR 14.8 million, and the third one France with a result of EUR 4.3 million. According to the report, Polish baubles also decorate Czech, Austrian and Slovak homes and can also be found in Russia and Australia.

Interest in Christmas decorations has dropped

It was noticed that Poland not only exports but also imports Christmas decorations. In 2023, the value of imports of these goods amounted to EUR 46.7 million – the vast majority of Christmas decorations came from China (EUR 36.2 million – 17% less y/y). Decorations also come to Poland from Germany (EUR 4.6 million) and the Netherlands (EUR 1.7 million).

Radosław Jarema from Akcenta, quoted in the information, reported that the value of global exports of Christmas decorations in 2023 decreased by 39%, reaching EUR 6.38 billion compared to EUR 10.3 billion in 2022.

– China, which dominates the market, recorded a 42 percent decline year-on-year, while Poland did much better, recording only a 7 percent decline – he added.

“The data comes from International Trade Cener for the years 2022 and 2023 according to category 950510 – Christmas articles (excl. candles and electric lighting sets, natural Christmas trees and Christmas tree stands)” – explained in the report by Akcenta, which is a currency trader on the Czech market and Central Europe.
