Flooding in Poland continues. In Brzeg Dolny (Lower Silesia Province), the water level will be 950 centimetres – IMGW director Robert Czerniawski announced at the crisis headquarters after 9 p.m. – If nothing happens to the embankment, which is already loaded, we still have 120 centimetres in reserve – he added. According to information obtained by a TVN24 reporter at 11 p.m., one of the embankments was leaking and services together with residents were reinforcing it with sandbags. According to IMGW, water level increases will also be visible in Malczyce and Ścinawa, but there should also be several dozen centimetres in reserve there.

IMWM Director Robert Czerniawski said during the evening meeting of the crisis team – with the participation of, among others, the Prime Minister and representatives of the services – that “the situation is worrying at the lower measurement stations, below Wrocław”.

He reported that in the town of Brzeg Dolny (Lower Silesian Voivodeship) on the water gauge “we currently have (after 9 p.m. – ed.) 906 centimeters, it will be 950”. – The maximum will be reached around midnight – he added.

He emphasized that “here we are observing a fairly rapid increase in the water level”. – If nothing happens to the embankment, which is already loaded, we still have 120 centimeters in reserve – he added.

A TVN24 reporter on the spot in Brzeg Dolny said after 11 p.m. that the water level was already 916 centimeters and rising. He added that one of the embankments had started leaking and that services and residents were packing sandbags to strengthen it.

Czerniawski said that “increases will be visible” also in the case of Malczyce and Ścinawa. – I want to go there tomorrow and verify what it looks like – he said. – In Malczyce we will see an increase of 50 centimeters, at the moment it is 750 – he said, adding that it will happen on Friday. – Here we also have 92 centimeters in reserve – he explained.

– In Ścinawa, from 538 centimeters observed now, on Friday evening there will be an increase to 650 centimeters. If nothing unforeseen happens, we also have another 80 centimeters in reserve – he continued.

He added that “warnings, without any special threat, are still observed on the Nysa Kłodzka, Nysa Łużycka, the entire Barycz catchment area and on the border section of the Odra”.
