In Lower Silesia, the situation in the reservoirs in Międzygórze and Stronie Śląskie is still critical. The situation in the Nysa Kłodzka catchment area is very difficult. According to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, hydrological stations recorded increases above alarm levels there.

“Critical situation”

The Regional Water Management Board in Wrocław (Polish Waters) reported a “critical” situation at the Międzygórze reservoirs on Wilczka and Stronie Śląskie on Morawa; water is overflowing and the technical staff of the reservoirs have lost the ability to control them. The overflow of the reservoirs means that localities in the commune are at risk of flooding. Bystrzyca Klodzka; evacuation of residents of lower-lying villages was ordered; the commune suspended the operation of the sewage treatment plant. Mayor of Bystrzyca Kłodzka Renata Surma encouraged residents of smaller towns in her commune to evacuate earlier. Several hundred beds were prepared for the needs of the evacuees in schools and in the palace in Gorzanów. Mayor of Kłodzko Michał Piszko informed on social media after midnight that “tap water is no longer suitable for consumption”. “Due to the possibility of contamination of drinking water intakes for the city of Kłodzko by flood waters, it is recommended to use the water only for household purposes” – reads the announcement of the Kłodzko waterworks.

Floods, impassable roads

Parts of the flooded area include: Lądek-Zdrój, Stronie Śląskie, Bystrzyca and smaller towns in the commune Klodzko. Roads in the vicinity of Lądek-Zdrój and Stronie Śląskie are impassable. The Lower Silesian Voivode Maciej Awiżeń reported that many municipal and county roads in other parts of the province are impassable. Evacuations were carried out in Lądek-Zdrój, Świerzawa, Jelenia Góra (tourists who evacuated themselves), Stronie Śląskie. Planned evacuations reported by local governments are to be carried out in Bardo, Mysłakowice, Marciszów and smaller towns of the Kłodzko commune. The governor requested military assistance. Local flooding occurred in the Silesian province, where five people were evacuated due to heavy rainfall – two in Rydułtowy and three in Zebrzydowice. As reported on Saturday evening by the spokeswoman of the Silesian command of the State Fire Service, Brigadier Aneta Gołębiowska, the water flooded many properties, buildings and roads, making it impossible to drive. Although the most difficult conditions have been in the south of the Silesian province since Friday, they have also significantly worsened in the northern part of the province in recent hours. regon. Częstochowa authorities have introduced a flood alert this evening due to the rapid rise in water in the Warta and Stradomka rivers.

6.5 thousand interventions

The fire brigade intervened almost 6.5 thousand times by 10 p.m. The spokesman of the State Fire Service, Senior Brigadier Karol Kierzkowski, reported that on Saturday the largest number of interventions related to removing the effects of precipitation, rain and strong wind took place in the following provinces: Silesia – 2646, Lower Silesia – 2034, Opole – 505, Lesser Poland – 314, Łódź – 182, Greater Poland – 178 and 15 interventions in Mazovia. The number of soldiers ready to help in connection with the flood situation has been increased by 1.5 thousand – to four thousand. About 500 soldiers are already involved in the activities, among others in Głuchołazy and the Kłodzko Valley – the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense announced on Saturday Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
