France. Accident near Chartres. Seven people are dead

Seven people were killed on Tuesday evening in a car crash near Chartres in central France, the local prefecture in the Central Region-Loire Valley said. Five died in the burning car, and two died in the other vehicle due to the force of the impact. The causes of the accident are not yet known.

The website of the daily “Le Figaro” reported that, according to the prefecture, among the seven victims of the tragic accident were five young people aged 19 to 20. They died in a burning car. However, an elderly couple, aged 85 and 90, died in the second vehicle due to the force of the impact.

The accident, in which three cars collided, occurred on the RD 921 road in the commune of Bailleau-le-Pin near Chartres, said Federic Blanc, director of the prefectural office of the Eure-et-Loir department in the Central Region-Loire Valley. Traffic in both directions is blocked at this location.

The causes of the accident are not yet known.
