He overtook other cars in a slalom, drove almost 300 km/h in the tunnel under the Martwa Wisła in Gdańsk, and recorded everything. The motorcyclist himself published a video of his dangerous driving on social media. The recording was removed after the media wrote about it. The police detained the suspected driver.
The Pomeranian Police reported the arrest of a 32-year-old on Friday. The man is suspected of “bragging” on social media a few days ago about driving at a speed of 299 km/h in the tunnel under the Martwa Wisła in Gdańsk.
“He was arrested yesterday evening while driving a BMW without a license. The 32-year-old was agitated, so he was tested for the presence of drugs in his body,” we read in a post published by officers.
The motorcyclist posted the video on September 17 this year. The video shows him dangerously slaloming past cars on Płażyńskiego Avenue in Gdańsk, and then driving through the tunnel under the Martwa Wisła, where he reaches a speed of 299 km/h. The speed limit there is 70 km/h. The video was removed from the profile after a few days.
This wasn't the only dangerous driving video the motorcyclist posted on social media.
The police are preparing evidence
– The film material that appeared on the social media on September 17 and other materials have been secured by us and explanatory actions have been taken in this matter. The purpose of these actions is, among others, to determine the exact circumstances of the event, to precisely qualify the entire event, as well as to identify the perpetrator of these offenses and submit a motion to punish him to the court – Sub-inspector Magdalena Ciska from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Gdańsk told us on Thursday.
She added that the initial assessment of the video shows that there was a threat to road safety and failure to drive on the right-hand side of the road.
The case is being investigated by police officers from the Road Traffic Crimes and Offences Department of the City Police Headquarters in Gdańsk.
“Officers secured the film material published online, as well as others that the author posted on his profile. The police are analyzing the collected recordings, verifying the information and evidence to explain the circumstances in detail. The material will be forwarded to the prosecutor's office,” the Pomeranian Police reported on Friday.
The motorcyclist’s recording was first published and described by the website trojmiasto.pl.
