The German Foreign Ministry, however, assures that the decision does not apply to Poland. – At the moment we do not anticipate any changes, we are introducing controls on other sections of the border – assured the ministry's spokesman Maximilian Kall in an interview with Polsat News correspondent Tomasz Lejman.

The spokesman also stressed that Inspections continue to be carried out based on specific needs. – This means that they are adapted to current safety requirements and the current situation – he explained.
The representative of the ministry emphasized that he still counts on the current formula of cooperation with the Polish services. – In particular, when it comes to Poland, it should be emphasized that there is very close cooperation. Looking at Frankfurt or other cities, we see how it works – joint police centers, joint patrols, joint actions at the border – he listed.
– We want to continue this European, cooperative approach, especially in relations with Poland and other neighboring countries. There are no actions that go beyond the existing European law – he assured.
He stressed, however, that the German side does not agree with the EU's proposals calling for unilateral actionsbut supports actions within the European system. – It is important for us to emphasize that this is about cooperation, not unilateral, national initiatives – added Kall.

Let us add that the introduction of such controls must be agreed upon European Commissionwhich confirmed that such a request on Tuesday it was received from the German government. According to the Schengen Code, they may be introduced in several specific situations – as a last resort, but they must comply with the principle of proportionality.
Since 2015, when the migration crisis first occurred, 400 such applications were submitted to the EU bodyfrom nine countries. For the first time, however, we have a situation where Germany wants to introduce controls on all its borders.
Let us recall that the possibility of introducing border controls is provided for in the act adopted this year Migration Pact. However, the new law will not come into force until two years later.
