On the banks of the Biała Głuchołaska River in Głuchołazy (Opole Province), preparations are underway to build a temporary bridge that will connect the two banks of the city. In order to build a DMS-65 folding bridge, abutments must be built on which it will stand. The structure will arrive in the city in pieces, some of the elements have already been brought.

Let us recall that Głuchołazy was one of the first Polish cities to be flooded. Two bridges were destroyed – one temporary and the other under construction. For 11 days, part of the city has been cut off, residents have to walk around, and communication between the two sides of the city is difficult. The only bridge that can be crossed by vehicle is used by services.

Reporter Michał Gołębiowski said on TVN24 that the construction of a bridgehead is underway, i.e. the hardening and reinforcement of the river bank on which a new temporary bridge will be built.

– Special equipment is involved in the work to clear the remains of the bridge, which was destroyed by the flood. The temporary bridge that is to be built will arrive in pieces. Some of the elements have already arrived and are being stored in a special place – he explained.

The bridge that is to connect both banks of the Głuchołazy is a DMS-65 type folding bridge.

– To erect it, a tall crane needs to be installed and engineering work is currently underway to set it up. It will take a few days to set up the abutments themselves, and at the same time, work is still underway to find a place to put the crane – the reporter said.

The crane that is to assist in building the bridge will arrive from Legionowo.
