Panagiotis Kavallaris, a representative of the authorities in Santorini, published a post on social media in which he appealed to residents to limit their movements due to the increased tourist traffic, the eKathimerini portal reported.
The post, which was quickly deleted, caught the attention of the Greek public and resulted in many negative comments.
“For the good of tourists, a lockdown was imposed on residents” – some were irritated.
The published entry noted that the authorities in Santorini are concerned about the effects of overtourism on the island.

During the meeting of high-ranking representatives of various ministers, the mayor of Santorini, the governor and deputies from the Cycladic Islands, the topic of limiting flights to the island was raised.
Nikos Zorzos, mayor of Santorini, said that the number of guests arriving on the island daily should not exceed 8 thousand.
He then announced that from next year the limit on people coming to Santorini will be restored. “We also need to build a new port, improve energy infrastructure and city planning,” he added. He also spoke in favor of regulating the activities of hotels and Airbnb.
