Cycling on the pavement. When is slow?
The police emphasize that, as a rule, cyclists cannot ride on the pavements – but there are some exceptions to this principle. This is allowed, among others, in the case where we look after the child up to 10 years old, which also moves on a bike.
You can also drive on the pavement when cars can move on a speed higher than 50 kilometers per hour. At the same time, however, there can be a bicycle, pedestrian and bicycle or separate lane for bicycles along the route. In addition, the width of the pavement must be at least two meters.
Another exception is the situation in which the weather conditions threaten the safety of the cyclist on the road. For example, we are talking about snow or icy surfaces, but such a premise can also be a strong wind, heavy rain, ice or thick fog.
“A cyclist driving on the pavement during bad weather must be careful and watch out for passers -by. He should reduce speed and give way to pedestrians,” she noted. Magdalena Gąsowska.
