A Ford coming from the opposite direction veered into his lane and hit his car while passing him. This was the report submitted by the 44-year-old on Monday (October 9) in the afternoon. There was a suspicion that the driver of the Ford was drunk because he did not stop and continued driving.
“Then the injured party followed him, informing the police officer on duty about the route of the car. Police patrols were sent to the site,” writes Commissioner Ewa Czyż from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Chełm in a statement.

He had two per mille of alcohol in his body
The man was detained by district police. It turned out to be a 37-year-old from Chełm. A breathalyzer test showed that he had two per mille of alcohol in his body. He spent the night in a room for detained persons. Today, when he sobers up, further procedural activities will be performed with his participation.
Driving under the influence of alcohol is punishable by up to two years in prison. The man will also face severe financial consequences. He will also be responsible for causing a collision.
