Heavy rains hit parts of Oman, flooding roads and buildings. Among other things, the capital of the country suffered. There was so much water that some residents had to evacuate.
Heavy and continuous rainfall lashed across eastern and northern Oman for three days since Monday. They were most abundant in areas located on the Arabian Sea. The downpours caused damage in several regions.
23 rescue operations were carried out in the Southeastern Province and Muscat, local media reported. The services evacuated several families who were trapped in their homes after roads became underwater. Several people stuck in cars on flooded streets were also rescued.
In the coastal city of Sur, 215 liters of water per square meter have fallen since the beginning of the week. In Muscat, the country's capital, 100 l/sq m was recorded. – reported the Muscat Daily newspaper.
