IMGW has issued first-degree heat warnings. Yellow alerts are in effect in nine provinces. The heat will not let up in the coming days, and storms will also appear.
Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first-degree meteorological warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.
First degree IMWM warnings – heat
First-degree heat warnings apply in the following provinces:
- West Pomeranianin the western and southern counties;
- lubuskie;
- Greater Poland;
- Kuyavian-Pomeranianin the southern and south-western counties;
- Lodzexcept for the counties located in the eastern part of the region;
- Lower Silesian;
- Opole;
- Silesianoutside the Żywiec district;
- Lesser Polandoutside the following counties: Tatra, Nowy Targ, Nowy Sącz, Nowy SączGorlice.
Heat is forecast for these regions. Maximum daytime temperatures will range from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius. Minimum nighttime temperatures will range from 14 to 17 degrees Celsius.
The warnings in most of Poland will expire at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, but in the Silesian, Lesser Poland and Greater Poland provinces they will be in force from Wednesday at 12 p.m. to Thursday at 8 p.m. As forecasters noted, the alarms may continue.
IMWM threat forecast for Thursday
Second degree alerts may appear on Thursday storms in the voivodeships: Silesian, Lesser Poland, Subcarpathian (in the southern counties) and Świętokrzyskie (except the eastern counties).
Lower-level storm warnings may apply in the following provinces: Pomeranian, West Pomeranian, Greater Poland, Lodz, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Lower Silesian, Opole.
It will also be very hot that day. First-degree heat alerts may appear in the following provinces: Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Greater Poland (in the west of the region), Opole (in the north of the region), Silesian (in the northern counties), Lesser Poland (except southern counties), Lower Silesian (in the north-eastern counties).

On Friday, second-degree storm warnings may be issued in the provinces Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian. Lower level alerts for these dangerous phenomena may apply in the following provinces: Masovian, Lublin, Lodz, Świętokrzyskie, Silesian.
Second-degree heat warnings may appear in the following provinces: Masovian, Lublin, Świętokrzyskie, Łódź, Silesian, Lesser Poland (except southern counties), Subcarpathian (except for the southern counties). First degree alerts may be issued in the provinces Greater Poland and Opole.
IMWM threat forecast for Saturday
On Saturday, second-degree storm alerts may apply in the following provinces: Silesia, Lesser Poland and Subcarpathia. Yellow alerts for violent phenomena may appear in the following provinces: West Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Greater Poland, Masovian, Łódź, Lower Silesian, Opole, Świętokrzyskie, Lublin.
Orange heat alerts may appear in the following provinces: Masovian, Lublin, Lodz, Silesian, Masovian (except southern counties), Subcarpathian (except southern counties), Świętokrzyskie. Lower level warnings may apply in the following provinces: Warmia-Masuria, Kuyavia-Pomeraniain the counties located in the southern part of the voivodeships Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian.
