The man wrote to a 68-year-old woman from Łomża that he would gladly visit her and that he only needs money for a ticket to Poland. Later he had other needs. The woman transferred a total of 150,000 zlotys.
They almost succeeded. The older woman gave the pair of fraudsters all her savings – PLN 50,000. She did not hesitate because she heard on the phone that if she did not pay, her daughter may not survive.
– That he is in a life -threatening state in a hospital, and medicines are needed for expensive treatment of it – he tells the horseshoes. Barbara Poznańska from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Częstochowa.
There was no expensive treatment. There is another so -called legend that the fraudsters are robbed by older people – to the doctor.
– We act more emotionally than reasonably in such situations, right? Maybe sometimes you have to stop for a moment and think not to be fooled – indicates Mr. Krzysztof, a participant in training for seniors.
A 75-year-old resident of Częstochowa, cheated as a doctor, did not lose money, because after the pursuit the police stopped a few cheaters and recovered the entire looted sum.

Every day an elderly person can be cheated to thieves
However, there is no day that an older person would not be fooled to thieves. In Krakow, the 75-year-old threw the money out of the window, because she recommended her voice on the phone.
– This money, according to this pseudop -politician, was threatened, so it had to be packaged in a commercial and threw it through the balcony – says asp. Bartosz Izdebski from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Krakow.
One of the fraudsters was detained. However, the money was not recovered. He managed to pass them on to his colleagues. They are people who work in groups. Some collect money, others call older people, the next ones search for victims.
– They usually use old phone books, where there are so -called old names, such as Stanisława, Wiesław – indicates an operational officer from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Krakow.
Unfortunately, all the time – despite warnings and training – fraudsters methods are effective. Every year, seniors lose a total of several dozen million zlotys in Poland.
