Wrocław is preparing for four days of downpours. On Wednesday, the mayor of Wrocław, Jacek Sutryk, appointed a crisis team to protect the city from flooding and the adverse effects of the storm. In addition to city services, MPWiK, the Crisis Management Center, and MPK, the city's carrier, are also responsible for maintaining this critical infrastructure.
– We really do have a weekend full of challenges ahead of us, for which we want to prepare well, in connection with this storm, this rainfall that awaits us. Of course, the weather changes from hour to hour and the information we have today indicates slightly less rainfall than we initially assumed. Nevertheless, this is still heavy rainfall, because when we are talking about 150 liters per square meter, it is much more than the situation we had in August. Yesterday, without waiting for the situation to develop, we established a crisis team. In addition to the city services, which are responsible for maintaining this critical infrastructure on a daily basis, there is MPWiK, the crisis management center, MPK, our city carrier – said the mayor of Wrocław, Jacek Sutryk, at Thursday's conference.

– Since yesterday, we have been specifically checking, verifying and assessing the condition of this critical infrastructure, which primarily includes retention tanks and storm collectors – he said. – We are also prepared with bags, with sand, if such a need arises.
– This is not about causing panic, but just about preparing us all so that we can all cope with this situation – added the president.
As Sutryk explains, the announced and forecasted amount of rainfall is worrying and that is why the authorities will take action on an ongoing basis, indicators are also being monitored on the Odra and other rivers such as Ślęza and Bystrzyca.
