Grain prices up: Currently on the Polish market grain prices are at a relatively low level. Currently, the price of wheat is PLN 830 to PLN 870 per tonne. According to analysts, this can be expected price increases in the following months of 2025. PKO BP experts predict that at the beginning of next year wheat will have to be paid for up to PLN 900 per tonne.
Not only butter: Grains are another product after butterwhich may see a noticeable price increase. Let us recall that the average price of butter in October was PLN 8.75 per 200-gram cube. In the third quarter of 2024, grain prices decreased year-on-year. The reason was, among others, influx of cheap grain from the East. This will change in the near future due to “geopolitical and weather conditions”. In the EU, harvests are expected to be low – production in France and Romania has been reduced. With increased demand, this will affect prices.
Prices of basic agricultural products: “Purchase prices of basic agricultural products in October increased for the third time in a row m/m and for the first time since April 2023 they were higher than a year ago (by 2.1% y/y). Compared to September, grain prices increased significantly (wheat by 3.7% m/m, oats and rye 8.5% m/m) and milk (5.7% m/m),” write analysts PKO BP.
Experts add that “tendencies on agricultural markets may increase food inflation in the coming months.”
