Jens-Frederik Nielsen sworn in for the Prime Minister of Greenland

The coalition agreement emphasized that “Greenland belongs to its inhabitants”, and in international matters regarding the Arctic is the Greenland government, not Copenhagen, should have a decisive voice.

Negotiations about expanding the island's autonomy are expected. The safety chapter ensures that the island is part of the “Western Alliance”. Before the inauguration of the new parliamentary term, its members walked through the streets of Nuuk in traditional Greenland costumes, greeting the inhabitants.

33-year-old Jens-Frederik Nielsen is the youngest prime minister in the history of Greenland, he has no experience in foreign policy. In 2020-21 he was in the Greenland government minister of work and mineral resources. The politician graduated from social sciences at the University of Greenland, he is also a multiple champion of the island in Badminton.
