The fire in the field appeared around noon during work on harvesting grain. It spread quickly. In addition to dozens of firefighters, farmers took part in the extinguishing operation, who cut off the burning field from the rest by plowing the land.
On Sunday around noon, the district headquarters of the State Fire Service in Kluczbork received a call to a field fire near Gortatowo. At that time, farmers worked in the fields and collected grain.

As the command's spokesman, Karol Grzyb, told us, 25 hectares of standing barley were burned, which means it has not been cut down yet. Thanks to the efficient action of firefighters helped by farmers, 35 hectares were saved.
The fire spread very quickly. There was a strong wind and it was hot, which may have contributed to the fire. Farmers cut off the area affected by the fire and ploughed the land around it.
The action lasted two hours. 66 firefighters took part in it.
Grzyb appeals to farmers to always have charged phones with them and to call them as soon as they notice a fire.
