Kołobrzeg police arrested a drunk driver who had two per mille of alcohol in his system. After sobering up, the man was charged with driving while intoxicated. There was also a drunk passenger in the car, who had over four per mille of alcohol, he was taken to hospital.
The incident occurred on Bałtycka Street in Kołobrzeg. An off-duty officer was informed by passers-by that a drunk driver had gotten into a Mercedes Sprinter and was about to drive away.
“The police officer, seeing that the 29-year-old was driving away, opened the door without a second thought and, by taking the key out of the ignition, prevented him from driving any further,” we read in a police statement.

The officers who arrived at the scene tested the resident of Tuchola County with a breathalyzer. The test showed that he had two per mille of alcohol in his system. There was also a passenger in the car who had over four per mille of alcohol. The man was taken to the Regional Hospital in Kołobrzeg.
The 29-year-old driver was arrested. After sobering up, he was charged with driving while intoxicated.
He faces up to three years in prison, confiscation of his vehicle, a high financial penalty and a driving ban of all types of vehicles.
