The Warsaw Police Headquarters reported that eight people suspected of causing a false alarm that caused a LOT plane flying from Warsaw to Newark in the US to turn back. As LOT spokesman Krzysztof Moczulski said, this happened “after receiving a signal about a potential threat on board”. Airport spokeswoman Anna Dermont reported that “appropriate procedures have been launched in such a situation”.
“Police officers from Legionowo and the OPP have detained eight people suspected of causing a false bomb threat on board a plane flying from Warsaw to the USA,” the Warsaw Police Headquarters reported on Sunday. “These are men aged 23 to 60. Actions are underway under Article 224a of the Penal Code (false alarm – ed.)” – it was reported.
LOT Polish Airlines spokesman Krzysztof Moczulski told TVN24 after 8 p.m. that “after receiving a signal about a potential threat on board the plane performing flight LO11 from Warsaw to Newark in the United States, the captain, in accordance with the procedure, decided to return to the airport in Warsaw.”

He added that when the plane landed, airport and state services were activated. “The flight was canceled for operational reasons and passengers will be rebooked on other connections,” he said.
Warsaw Chopin Airport spokeswoman Anna Dermont confirmed that “the airport services received information about possible dangerous cargo on board the plane to Newark”. “The appropriate procedures in such a situation have been launched, and state services are taking action,” she added.
