Two men were charged with breaking into a currency exchange office. They broke through the building's wall with an excavator. They didn't steal the money. The police released the surveillance footage.
The incident took place on the night of November 13, but it was only on Friday, December 6 that the police released the surveillance footage showing the operation.
The officer on duty received a report of a burglary at a commercial facility. Someone tried to break through the outer wall of the commercial building where the currency exchange office is located. He used an excavator bucket to hit the wall. According to the police, the goal was to get into the rooms where currencies were stored. However, this did not work out.
Drugs and stolen tool
“Despite significant damage, the perpetrators did not manage to break the security and get inside. After an unsuccessful break-in attempt, they fled the scene,” said Junior Asp. Anna Tersa from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica.
The police detained five people in the case. During a search of the premises belonging to one of them, they found half a kilogram of methamphetamine with a black market value of nearly PLN 100,000. The second person, in turn, had items from other burglaries, including: power tools, measuring devices, navigation systems and car radios.
Two people facing charges
Two men have already been charged. At the request of the prosecutor's office, the court decided on temporary arrest for a period of three months for a 41-year-old resident of Legnica. The second detainee, a 39-year-old resident of Legnica, was placed under police supervision and on property bail.
