On Friday, the Polish-Hungarian Institute of Freedom established close to Viktor Orban. The authority was headed by PiS MP Marcin Romanowski, who was sought after by Polish services, on which a number of charges were burdened.

Former Deputy Minister of Justice Marcin Romanowski – who is prosecuted by the Polish prosecutor's office and received political asylum on Hungary – He headed the Polish-Hungarian Institute of Freedom as part of the pro-government Hungarian Center for Fundamental Rights (Alepjogokert Koezpont).
The establishment of the Institute was informed at the Friday press conference, at which Romanowski and the head of the Fundamental Rights Center, Miklos Szantho, performed.
“Poland has become a laboratory of experiments today, in which values constituting the foundations of Western civilization are questioned and constantly attacked. The Institute undertakes to analyze these trends and is looking for effective mechanisms of defense against threats to freedom and identity of nations” – wrote in a statement about the Institute's mission. At the same time, the first, over 40-page study on the situation in Poland was published.
Center for Fundamental Rights – is a center close to the government of Prime Minister Viktor Orban. He is the organizer of Hungarian edition of the CPAC conservative community conference, i.e. Conservative Political Action Conference, the largest political event of the extreme right in USA.
A number of charges for Marcin Romanowski
Marcin Romanowski – former deputy minister of justice, currently a PiS MP – is suspected in the investigation of the Justice Fund. The prosecutor's office accuses him of, among others Participation in an organized criminal group and manipulating competitions for funds from this fund that supervises Ministry of Justice.
Romanowski and PiS politicians believe that the investigation into the Justice Fund is “political revenge”.
At the beginning of December 2024, the court decided to detention on a three -month detention to Romanowski. Since the services could not find him, a warrant was issued behind him, and later also a European arrest warrant. At that time, it turned out that Romanowski obtained political asylum in Hungary.
In mid -March, the Hungarian parliament adopted new provisions regarding cooperation in criminal matters with EU countries. They give the Prosecutor General the opportunity to appeal from a possible court decision to transfer Romanowski to the Polish side. The Hungarian Supreme Court, the curia, could annul the decision of the lower court to transfer the politician sought in Poland.
The weekly “HVG” estimated that the parliament changed the law to protect Romanowski from issuing him by the Polish side.
