– This is the first case of an MP, probably since the 18th century, from Targowica, who escapes to the protection of a foreign government because he does not like his own government – noted the Marshal of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24, commenting on the actions of Marcin Romanowski. The PiS MP faces prosecutorial charges and is wanted on an arrest warrant, but he is hiding in Hungary. Hołownia assured that since Romanowski “waived his remuneration, he has not received any money.” – And he will not receive a allowance because he does not perform his duties in the territory of the Republic of Poland – he added.
Leader of Poland 2050 and Speaker of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia he spoke in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 about the case of Marcin Romanowski. Former Deputy Minister of Justice and currently PiS MP is hiding on Hungaryalthough he is wanted on a European Arrest Warrant. In the investigation into the Justice Fund, the prosecutor's office accuses him of committing a number of crimes.
Meanwhile, PiS nominated Romanowski as a member of the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. However, the Marshal of the Sejm did not sign the power of attorney in this matter and did not agree to the candidacy of the MP.
Romanowski “does not get money”
– I think that they (PiS politicians – ed.) don't like him very much, because if he became a representative to the Council of Europe, he would have to leave Hungary. Because he would have to go to the session. And everywhere except Hungary they will lock him up. So do they really wish their friend that bad? – Hołownia asked on TVN24.
He said that “this is really a ridiculous expectation.” – Of course, I signed the so-called credentials (powers of attorney, references – ed.) to everyone, including those whom PiS nominated (except Romanowski – ed.). But I will not sign them, and I wrote about it to the chairman (of the PiS club Mariusz) Błaszczaksomeone who in fact committed treason and resigned from his mandate – he emphasized.
To the comment that Romanowski receives money for being an MP, he replied that he “doesn't get it anymore.” – Since he waived his salary, he hasn't received any money. And he will not receive a allowance because he does not perform his duties in the territory of the Republic of Poland. The case is simple and closed, he emphasized.
“It's just betrayal”
Hołownia also said that “this is the first case of an MP, probably since the 18th century, from Targowica, who escapes to the protection of a foreign government because he does not like his own government.” – This is simply betrayal – he said.
– He is supposed to comply with the law, just like every Kowalski in this country, and now he finds himself in a completely different place – he added.
He was asked whether he was not surprised by the president's attitude Andrzej Dudawho did not criticize the PiS MP, Hołownia replied: – When it comes to (…) the opinions of Mr. President and Law and Justice, I apply a simple rule: without expecting anything, I have never been disappointed.
– I did not expect the president to take any position and I was right – he added.
Hołownia “tomorrow” starts in Poland
Hołownia – who is a candidate in the presidential elections – announced on TVN24 that he would go to Poland “tomorrow”. – It will be a long campaign, but I am happy about it – he said. – We already have the entire campaign plan written out in great detail. However, I will also work in the Sejm, because that's what I was appointed for, he said.
When asked whether he would combine his work as a marshal with traveling, he replied “yes, as long as it is possible.” – Because there will probably be a moment when you will have to take a vacation – he admitted.
When asked where he would get the funds for the campaign, he said that “first of all, he will appeal for support to those who believe that Poland needs such an independent president.” – But also, as I understand, the Polska 2050 party will support me by contributing to the election fund – he said. Referring to whether PSL will donate some funds, he said he “can give too”. – However, we do not put this matter on a knife's edge – he emphasized.
